Colour By Numbers
“Colour By Numbers” is a permanent light installation at Telefonplan, in Stockholm, Sweden, that promotes citizens’ participation in shaping the nocturnal image of the area.
It is a statement about the use of the public space which is increasingly manipulated by commercial interests.
Anyone can change the tower’s coloured lights through a smartphone application or a simple phone call.
Users choose the amount of red, green and blue light applied on each selected floor, creating a custom colourful composition that stays on the tower until the next user changes it.
The result is visible within a radius of 20 Kilometers and is also showed in real time on the project’s website.
The project is realized by the architect Milo Laven, the artist Erik Krikortz and the interactive designer Loove Broms.
